Nord Anglia Education has a long-standing partnership with UNICEF, the United Nations Children's Fund, and regularly collaborates with them on a range of initiatives to promote child rights and global citizenship among students.
In the past, Nord Anglia has organised UNICEF-themed events, such as the Global Goals Summit, which brought together students from around the world to learn about the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals and to develop their own action plans for making a positive impact in their communities. Nord Anglia has also organised fundraising campaigns and other events to support UNICEF's work in providing education, health care, and other essential services to children in need around the world.
Nord Anglia's partnership with UNICEF reflects its commitment to providing students with a global perspective and encouraging them to become responsible, engaged citizens of the world.
Our annual NAE-UNICEF Student Summit is now underway in New York City. Congrats to all our student delegates who were selected to attend this prestigious event, which is now back to being held in person. Over 100 NAE students from around the world are gathering to learn from experts about sustainable planning and how to better address global challenges such as poverty, hunger, and climate change.
Two students, Hazel K. and Jenny K., from Leman International School have been selected to join this Summit this year. Here let’s read some updates from our student representatives in New York.
Hazel:
"First of all, I was really happy to participate in this Summit on behalf of the school. But on the other hand, I was afraid that will I be able to do a good job.
NAE-UNICEF Summit was such a good summit and good experience for me. I was able to learn more deeply and understand SDGs that I didn't learn deeply at school. And I learned a lot from various workshops including SDG workshop, dialogue workshop, etc. Being able to come to UNICEF United Nations, which I can't go on a trip, was really an experience that would never happen again in my life. In the evening, we did some excursions like going to SUMMIT One Vanderbilt, High Line, and walking around Times Square. Also, I was able to meet a lot of students from many countries. I can hear various different ideas about the things that we are working on, and I can share my thoughts with them.
It would have been better if the duration of the Summit was longer. We only have 5 days (3 days to be exact), so every day’s schedule was so tiring and exhausting. However, on the last day, the moment we finished this summit through the SDG conference, it was a hard time, but it was a really good and enjoyable experience, and I felt something rising from one side of my heart. My heart overflowed with joy. It will be an unforgettable experience and I think it will be of great help to me in my future life."
Jenny:
"First and foremost, the NAE-summit proved to be an invaluable and truly unforgettable experience that I would never forget! Meeting students from all corners of the globe was both exciting and awe-inspiring. This summit opened my eyes to new perspectives and expanded my understanding of the world in ways I could never have imagined. The opportunity to engage with individuals from diverse cultures and backgrounds was a thrilling aspect of the event, and I recognize that such an opportunity is rare and not easily attainable. One of the highlights of the summit was the privilege of presenting and sharing my ideas at UNICEF. Sharing my own experiences in léman community and learning from other schools' initiatives was an honor and amazing opportunity to have as it gave me so many inspirations and motivations. I am now eager to bring all the knowledge and ideas I gathered back to leman!
Diversity and the huge potential we possess were the most profound lessons I took away from this summit. The message of interconnectedness was what the summit underscored, and that resonated deeply with me; although we may appear different and come from various backgrounds, we are all bound together by the shared world we inhabit. The summit's atmosphere of passion and purpose was contagious, and now I'm looking forward to pass on that same enthusiasm to our students at léman. Additionally, the word "hope" emerged during one of our group reflections, we said we see a hope because we are here together to put our heads together. This NAE-summit filled me with hope, and I wish to impart the same sense of hopefulness to the léman community, because now I know there will be always hope if we work and make our steps together. UNICEF said that we are now in our half mark, and this is great time to make a goal and win! I would like to thank our school who gave me this remarkable opportunity, I truly hope, and I can confidently affirm that we can make a goal in this half time and win! Let’s make a goal together!"
