ICS Educator Presents at IB Global Conference in Washington, D.C.

ICS Educator Presents at IB Global Conference in Washington, D.C.

In July 2024, Mr. Bottex, the Theory of Knowledge Coordinator, University and Careers Counsellor, and Diploma Programme Tutor at ICS, attended the IB Global Conference in Washington, D.C., where he delivered a presentation on how Socratic dialogue and ill-structured problems can enhance students’ abilities to evaluate knowledge processes. This approach plays a crucial role in developing resilient thinkers capable of cultivating AI-proof skills essential for tackling real-world challenges. Over 70 attendees took part in the session, which explored the development of thinking skills across the PYP, MYP, and DP programmes.

During the conference, Mr. Bottex also had the opportunity to meet and collaborate with experts in education, artificial intelligence, and curriculum design, gaining insights into the latest developments across the IB Continuum. The knowledge, updates, and professional connections he brought back from the event will support ICS leadership and staff in staying at the forefront of best practices within the IB curricula. This will ensure we are well-prepared for upcoming changes to courses and assessments, keeping us ahead of the curve across the PYP, MYP, and DP.

We would like to extend our thanks to Mr. Bottex for sharing his valuable insights and experiences with us. His contributions will undoubtedly benefit the ICS community as we continue to enhance our approach to the IB curricula. We also look forward to seeing more of our school's IB specialists attending similar conferences in the near future, ensuring that ICS remains a leader in educational excellence.
