Music holds a very special place here at Collège Champittet. It is our honour to invite some of the most distinguished artists from across Europe to perform as part of our Cultural Season, and our last concert of 2024 was no exception. What better way to celebrate the magic of Christmas than with the enchanting voices and fairytale-like origins of Sjaella?
Once upon a time, 20 years ago, six 12-year-old girls created a vocal group together in Leipzig, Germany. They all went on to become professional singers, performing across Europe with the greatest orchestras – and with each other, as the vocal ensemble Sjaella.
Meaning “soul” in Swedish, Sjaella brought their very special repertoire of a cappella music right here to Collège Champittet for an exceptional Christmas concert. Our Pully chapel was packed on December 15th as we immersed ourselves in the expressive music of this prestigious vocal ensemble. In addition, there was another treat in store for our audience: the performance of our very own Champittet choir, directed by Magali Riederer.
Between the harmony of Sjaella and the voices of our choir, our Christmas concert was a moving and memorable experience for all. There is nothing like music to bring the whole community together – and indulging in Christmas sweets afterwards was simply the icing on the cake!
Many thanks to everyone who came out to enjoy this magical evening and support our performers. May 2025 continue to be full of music!
