Together with his trio, Paul Lay paid tribute to George Gershwin, celebrating the 100-year anniversary of the American composer’s masterpiece “Rhapsody in Blue”. With Donald Kantomanou on drums and Clemens van der Feen on double bass, the Trio dazzled our sold-out crowd with their virtuosity, musicality and imaginative reinterpretations of Gershwin standards.
After the concert, the artists generously made time to personally greet members of the audience, including Champittet students, and sign CDs.
This is the first time in our history that we’ve opened our Cultural Season with jazz – and what a concert! A professor at the prestigious Paris Conservatory, Paul Lay has won the most important prizes that can be awarded to a jazz musician, including the Grand Prix du Disque in 2014, the Django-Reinhardt Prize in 2016 and the Victoire du Jazz in 2020.
Through our Cultural Season, we aim to connect our students, families and wider Champittet community with today’s best musicians. Our Cultural Season concerts provide a wonderful opportunity to enjoy world-class performances spanning a wide range of genres, all in an intimate setting right here in Pully.
If you’re a music lover, be sure to mark your calendar for these upcoming concerts:
