Mr. Brian Balding
Secondary Principal

Hello Middle and High School Families!

Country Day School - Brian Balding

We had a great week in the Secondary after coming back from break. Although we were disappointed in the result, the school came together to cheer on our national team in the World Cup. There was a large group of 7th, 8th, and 9th grade students in Orlando, Florida all week competing in the Global Games. Classes are coming down the home stretch, with students at the High School level finishing up final projects and preparing for exams. Next week is the Middle School Mundialito!

High School Exam Schedule

Below is the High School Exam Schedule. Students are required to be in attendance for all class times, whether their class is giving an exam or have a final project. Any student who has a very difficult exam day can request to take one of those exams during a Make-Up session (send an email in advance to Mr. Balding). Students are not required to be in attendance during a Make-Up exam session if they are not taking an exam at that time. Students who have free periods are not required to be in attendance during that time.

Middle School Mundialito

This week will mark the beginning of the Middle School Mundialito. We have 6 teams ready to compete to be our MS champ for 2022. All games will be played at lunch.

Electives

High School students are choosing an additional elective class for the 2nd semester. Students filled out a form this week to provide their top three choices and counselors are working to get them into those classes. Due to the fact that these classes are being added into the schedule mid-year, students may not get one of their top choices.

Middle school elective choices for the 2nd semester will be made soon. A new class will be offered, AP/Honors Prep. This class will prepare students for advanced coursework, with a focus on reading, writing, and presenting content. The class will have a maximum of 15 students, if more than that sign up then students will be given preference based on MAP scores, class grades, and teacher recommendation.

Please join me in congratulating our College Counselor, Gerardo de Vega, for receiving the Counselor of the Year Award in Latin America and the Caribbean from the International Career and College Counseling Movement.
