Mr. Jose Luis Menendez
Secondary Principal
Dear Secondary Families,
We have two more weeks until the end of the school year! I think we are all ready for a nice summer vacation, but we are not there yet. There are still classes to go to and final assessments to do!
This coming Thursday evening we will graduate our 56th Senior Class, and we are excited to be celebrating them as they commence the next chapter of their lives. This is a special class for me as it is the class I began my CDS career with and I am glad that I will be “graduating” with them as well.
I thank you all for your wonderful support. Have a great week!
Onward and Upward,
JLM

The incoming Secondary School Principal was able to come and spend this Friday with the CDS community as he and his family prepare for their journey to Costa Rica. I got to spend some time with him over the past few weeks via zoom and in person, and I am excited in knowing that Brian will step in to do a great job as the next Secondary School Principal.
There is good news to share in that the Secondary School will be receiving secondary support for the principal next year. CDS has begun the process of adding an Assistant Secondary Principal will assist the Secondary School with the daily operations and student/community life aspect of the school. This person will be in the classroom teaching as well. This much needed support will help enhance the secondary school t o deliver the best education to our students as possible.
We have finally finished with our MAP make-up testing this week. We are compiling the reports now and will be publishing those out in the Parent Portal as soon as they are ready next week.
I want to take a quick moment to highlight Mr. Chandler and the extraordinary work he has done with his mathematicians, as he calls his students, this year. Mr. Chandler's average in students meeting their MAP projected growth was over 160% projected growth in his students’ math growth. This is outstanding work by Mr. Chandler and a testament to his teaching talent. Congrats to him!
As I have mentioned in my previous communications this week, we have had our largest outbreak of COVID cases at CDS since the pandemic began, and this year since returning to campus.
I have asked students to continue wearing their masks while on campus and indoors to help prevent any further infections of the virus.
Thank you for your support in this endeavor to keep wearing masks.
