PANTHER EXPERIENCE OPEN HOUSE
Dear CDS Families,
In the past, because of the pandemic’s impact and virtual school, our drama productions had to migrate online and be presented as videos, watched either from a car – in our first ever CDS Drive-In – or from a home computer. Ever since returning to school face-to-face, we wanted to return drama to our theater and have it be an in-person experience, making it an event to enjoy and celebrate as a community.
We have a lot to celebrate because the production of the play Chaos, staged at the end of April, was extraordinary. A contemporary, edgy, avant-garde story mixed with an incredible soundtrack, stunning visuals – videos, GIFS, graphics, lights – and full-throttled acting in full-view on a theater-in-the-round made for an exceptional show. Directed by our drama teacher, Lindsay Stewart, Chaos was not the least bit chaotic, but instead presented a comprehensive, student-driven show that equaled more than the sum of its parts: outstanding actors, extraordinary crew, uber-responsible production, and brilliant tech. Outstanding teamwork, with support from the CDS Parents Association, and indefatigable coaching by Ms. Lindsay, created an impressive production that was super successful and fun for all.
We have absorbed that dramatic momentum and transferred it to our next production, Pinocchio, which is directed by our choir teacher Romel Bromley and will be staged as a musical. The production team are in the final few weeks of rehearsals and the shows will run at the end of May. So be sure to reserve your seats right away so you don’t miss out!
I hope you and your family enjoy a wonderful weekend.
With Panther Pride,
Dr. Scott Adams, Director
