PANTHER EXPERIENCE OPEN HOUSE
Friday, February 1st was World Read Aloud Day. This was the 10th anniversary of this special day that recognizes and celebrates the right of everyone to read. We were one of thousands of schools representing over 150 countries around the world that participated in this event.
Starting off the morning we had a school-wide event where each High School and Middle School class was matched up with a ES or EC class to read aloud some of their favorite books. Over 370 books were read aloud this morning, laughter filled the halls and smiles were on the faces of all as they shared some of their favorite stories. This was an event that was enjoyed by all and one we will be repeating again.
Throughout the day, different classes had guest readers come in to read aloud to their child's class. Some classes built forts and dedicated the whole day to reading.
During the week, the Elementary students took trips to the Arthur Gough ALDEA, a government funded home for children, where the students engaged in different literacy activities together. Guest readers were also invited to come to read in the library to the EC classes throughout the week.
This whole week has been a celebration of literacy for our school community!
