Mr. Simon Higham, Principal
Dear Parents
The festive season has most definitely arrived at BVIS this week, with our Christmas trees and decorations being set up across the school, and our planning and preparation in full swing for the many Christmas themed events that are scheduled to take place between now and the end of this term.
This week, it was great to see our Year 1 students turning on the lights to officially start these festive times and I am looking forward to attending the Year 2 production of ‘Ralph the Reindeer’ next Friday, 6th December.
Continuing this week's pre-Christmas theme, is/are your child(ren) in Years 7 – 13? Do they enjoy showcasing their dancing skills? Are they willing to join in some festive fun?
If the answers to the above questions are ‘yes’, then please encourage them to get involved in our BVIS Xmas Dance Challenge.
How they can join:
Please note: An Email Login is required for video submission.
Deadline for all Submissions: Thursday, 12th December 2024 and I’m looking forward to seeing our festive fun entries!

Should you wish to contact your child’s Class Teacher(s) or Form Tutor directly, we encourage communication to be written in the language you most feel confident to use.
Parents may also find it useful to contact their child’s class teacher(s) or form tutor directly for all individual queries about their academic work/social and emotional wellbeing in school. Individual contact details can be found in the Parent's Handbooks or via our Primary/Secondary Receptionists.
On behalf of everyone at school, I hope that you have a suitably festive focused weekend ahead, in preparation for all our Christmas themed events over the final few weeks of this term. Take care and always remember to look after one another.
Mrs Mary McAloon, Head of Primary
On Monday, parents gathered once again with Mr Chandler, Mr Chris and Ms Khuyen to explore the innovative techniques and skills that students hone during their design and technology lessons at BVIS. This was the second workshop in a series of two put together by our expert team of teachers in this field.
Parents were given the opportunity to design their own images in the software known as ‘Adobe Illustrator’. These images were then printed onto acrylic using the school’s new UV colour printing machine. The atmosphere in the computer aided design room was filled with dynamic and innovative thinking and as a result, parents made many creative pieces.
This series of workshops provided a great opportunity for parents to experience what it is like for our BVIS students during design and technology lessons. Enjoyment in the room matched that of the students’ enjoyment, which teachers observe daily as they develop creativity and critical thinking through practical and collaborative learning activities.
Thank you to all parents who attended this series of workshops; the interest you take in your child’s learning journey, will certainly enhance their progress through their years at BVIS. Thank you to the teaching team who hosted these wonderful events for our parents to enjoy.
Time passes by so fast – before we know it, another academic year will have passed. That is why this Tuesday morning I spent time with our Year 6 parents, together with the Secondary Senior Leadership Team, to share what to expect as their children successfully complete their primary years and move forward into their secondary years. We often find that this transition is not only a great step for students, but also a giant leap for parents. The changes from primary to secondary, some discrete and some explicit, are deliberately designed and important for student growth and development. Top tips were shared with parents on communication, independence, responsibility and pastoral care for the students. In addition to this, the secondary senior leadership team shared an overview of the academic curriculum ahead.
The foundations laid in primary ensure every BVIS student is well prepared to continue to make excellent progress and achieve the qualifications they deserve and desire. With their iGCSE and A Level qualifications from BVIS our students enter the top universities around the world, including USA, UK, Australia and Europe.
The event was completed with a tour of the secondary years, showcasing the premium international school quality that our students enjoy every day as they develop through their teenage years.
Thank you to all parents who were in attendance. If you have further questions regarding the move to secondary for your child, then the secondary senior leadership and admissions teams are always available to help. Please contact Ms Mai Truong at mai.truong@bvisvietnam.com who will connect you with the right team member to support.
With a twinkle of magic in the air, Year 1 students delighted families with a wonderful Christmas Singalong on Friday to start Christmas at BVIS! The students sang beautifully, captivating the audience with their cheerful actions and spreading festive joy. Narrators spoke their lines with confidence, while students acted enthusiastically in scenes to introduce each song. It was truly a special way to begin the Christmas season. Well done to all of our Year 1 students and thank you to the family members who came to support.

As part of the annual Saigon Literary Festival, BVIS sent 22 of our fantastic secondary pupils to take part this year. Preparing for this event was inspiring to see as pupils practiced day-in-day-out both during school hours and after to build up their confidence. They were organized, creative and motivated with the inspiring Year 12 Chip as their team leader. Even before the event began it was brilliant to see them work so well together- like true professionals!
On the day itself, the pupils were immediately excited as we were able to witness most of the events in the auditorium with the wonderful canvas art painting taking place downstairs in the main foyer for all to see as they walked past. The contest kicked off strongly with the chain-storytelling event where our Year 11 students entranced with their team tales. After this it went from strength to strength with our emotional monologues, spell-binding public speeches and concert-level singing with the vocal trio. Then to top it all off, our fantastic Year 12 dance troupe stunned us all with their brilliant choreography. Watching these performances and displays of talent was already rewarding enough, but most impressive of all was the team spirit and cheers when BVIS won the majority of our contests and led our school to victory!
This week, we welcomed representatives from the University of Warwick's Business School (UK) and Ontario Tech University (Canada). Students had the opportunity to engage directly with these university representatives, enquiring about the admissions process and potential career paths following graduation.
University Ambassador Sway has returned, focusing on factors to consider when selecting a university beyond academic criteria. It is essential for students to evaluate the surrounding environment and career opportunities to make informed decisions that align with their long-term goals. For further insights into the factors influencing their choices, we encourage readers to explore further here.
The U15 FOBISIA squad travelled to Thailand this week to compete in the FOBISIA Games against many other International Schools. Students competed in Basketball, Football, Athletics and Swimming. The squad have been training hard over the past 2 months to prepare for this competition, and we look forward to seeing how they perform at the games.
Good luck to all students representing the BVIS Bulldogs in Thailand. Let’s go Bulldogs, Let’s go!
