Mrs. Dung, the University and College Counselor at BVIS, had a remarkable start to the summer of 2024 with the opportunity to visit six universities in the United Kingdom, including four prestigious Russell Group institutions: the University of Liverpool, Durham University, the University of York, Queen Mary University of London, the University of Surrey, and Loughborough University.
“Exploring their campuses and staying in student accommodation has been an invaluable experience,” shared Mrs Dung.
With high academic quality, the United Kingdom consistently ranks among the top 3 most popular overseas destinations for BVIS students after graduation. The list of admission offers for the 2024 Graduating Class includes prestigious universities in the UK that are highly ranked globally according to the QS World Ranking, such as Imperial College London (ranked 6th best university in the world), University College London (ranked 8th best university in the world), King's College London (ranked 40th best university in the world), University of Edinburgh (ranked 22nd best university in the world).
Mrs Dung added, “Having the opportunity to see firsthand the vibrant learning environments that these universities provide, reaffirmed my belief in the robust education we provide at BVIS. The IGCSE and A-Level programmes we offer equip our students with the knowledge and skills they need to confidently face university life anywhere in the world.”
A special moment during her trip was meeting Khang Nguyen–Harry, a proud BVIS alumnus. Harry graduated in 2018 and pursued an MSci in Physics and Astrophysics at the University of Birmingham. He is now working on his PhD in Astronomy at Liverpool John Moores University. Their conversation revolved around life in the UK and fond memories of BVIS. Harry expressed his eagerness to support the next generation of BVIS students, offering to connect with and mentor any current students interested in studying in the UK. This sentiment was echoed by many other BVIS alumni who reached out to offer their support.
Meeting Harry and other alumni underscored the strength and unity of the BVIS community. It’s heartwarming to see our former students succeed and remain connected to their roots, eager to help others follow in their footsteps.
This summer’s university visits have not only deepened Ms Dung’s understanding of the UK higher education system but also reinforced the value of the education we provide at BVIS. She looks forward to sharing these insights with our current BVIS students, helping them to effectively prepare for their academic futures.
