The total value of the scholarships Khanh Van received is $144,500 per year, amounting to over $578,000 (14.5 billion VND) for four years of study.
Khanh Van's application, featuring strong academic achievements and diverse extracurricular activities, includes:
After completing the IGCSE programme in Years 10-11, with advice from her family and school, Violet identified Finance and Economics as the fields she wishes to pursue.
"I am particularly interested in delving into macroeconomics, examining crucial problems from a macro perspective that influences the growth of our economy," she added.
Khanh Van also emphasized the significant role Mr. Doucette, her Economics teacher, played in her future plans. Thanks to his thorough guidance, she gained a better understanding of what studying Economics at a university in the US would entail, which solidified her decision to choose this field of study.
To prepare a solid foundation for her academic journey post-BVIS, Violet chose Economics, Mathematics, and Psychology as her A Level subjects. Previously, she had achieved three A grades in her AS Level examinations for these subjects.
Violet greatly enjoys the A Level programme because it allows her to study her areas of interest in greater depth. "The gap between AS and A-Level is significant; A Level elevates the course to a much higher level.”
Violet has also actively demonstrated her social and leadership skills through her roles as Student Mentor and House Captain for Hue House. Furthermore, she has shown a strong commitment to the community by participating in Rang Dong Club and the non-profit baking team. Her passion for sign language blossomed when she had the opportunity to interact with children with disabilities. From this experience, she is even more determined to make positive contributions to the underprivileged community in Vietnam.
Khanh Van added, "The application process and the anxious wait for decisions were undeniably stressful but sharing my concerns with Ms. Dung, College & University Guidance Counsellor, made a remarkable difference. At BVIS, support extends beyond the physical realm of academic and extracurricular activities; it also includes invaluable mental support from our teachers, which gives us the confidence and readiness to face many challenges."
Congratulations, Violet!
