As one of the standout students at BVIS, Minh Quan is the next to bring more good news during this year's admission season. He has successfully secured admissions to five prestigious universities in the UK and the US.
Minh Quan has been accepted to study Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at several dream destinations for many aspiring students, including New York University (NYU), University College London (UCL), the University of Edinburgh, the University of Manchester, and especially Imperial College London, ranked #13 in Best Global Universities and #23 for Chemical Engineering according to the U.S. News.
Understanding that top universities worldwide seek individuals with strong academic records and extracurricular involvement, Minh Quan balanced both aspects, reflected in his impressive personal profile:
When asked about his motivation to pursue Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, Minh Quan shared, “I’ve always had an interest in science, and how we can use it to understand how the world works. I chose to pursue engineering because it is a discipline in which I can apply these scientific methods to address real-world problems, so I can help contribute to make the world a little better for everyone.”
Recognizing his interests and passions early, Minh Quan chose to study four subjects—Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and Economics—in the A-Level programme at BVIS to best prepare for his future studies.
Minh Quan achieved 4 As in these subjects in his AS Level exams of 2024. Reflecting on his A-Level studies, Quan noted that the programme provides deep and comprehensive knowledge, requiring students to dedicate significant self-study time to keep up with the workload and excel in exams. However, he believes this rigorous foundation will prepare him well for university.
Minh Quan’s outstanding academic performance extends beyond his four core subjects. In the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) programme (Year 10-11), he demonstrated his extensive knowledge and understanding by achieving 9 A*s in all subjects, earning the Outstanding Cambridge Learner Award as the Highest Mark in Vietnam for IGCSE Geography in 2022.
In addition to his academic excellence, Quan demonstrated leadership and organisational skills as the Chair of Environment Committee in the Student Council for the 2022-2023 academic year, successfully leading members in environmental activities and projects at BVIS. His deep concern for society and the environment also led him to contribute to the non-profit organisation “Trash Again,” aiming to raise public awareness about environmental conservation.
During the stressful university application period, Quan expressed his gratitude for the dedicated support from BVIS teachers, especially Mr. Toby Bate, Head of Secondary, and Ms. Dung, College & University Guidance Counsellor. They organised useful mock interview sessions to help him prepare for real university admissions interviews.
“The supportive environment and sense of community at BVIS have truly helped shape me positively. I particularly appreciate the dedication of the teachers who have always strived to push and nurture us to develop academically and personally. All the experiences from extracurricular activities, close relationships, to opportunities to compete in international exams at BVIS have been crucial in my journey of self-discovery and growth,” Minh Quan added.
Congratulations to Minh Quan, and we wish him continued success in the future!
