Currently a first-year student majoring in Business and International Economics at the prestigious and long-standing business school in the United States, Kevin and his peers made a team named Revive to compete alongside international friends who share the same passion. Surpassing six other talented teams in the final round, Revive was crowned the champion of the Ground Floor Challenge competition thanks to their highly innovative business plan.
Recognising the financial burden that university tuition places on students, Kevin's team embarked on a mission to find a solution related to the world of fashion. Their initiative, along with their fellow students, is an innovative platform for university students to rent or exchange clothes and fashion accessories on a weekly basis. Impressed by the potential and groundbreaking business ideas, the "Best Presentation Award" was presented to Kevin's team with a value of $2,000 from the renowned fashion conglomerate PVH.
During his time at BVIS, Kevin was well-known in the school community as a dynamic and well-rounded individual, holding the position of President of the Secondary Student Council. With outstanding academic achievements and extracurricular experiences in various fields such as performing arts, swimming, and business, Kevin successfully achieved offers to prestigious U.S. universities such as Fordham University, University of Massachusetts Amherst (with a $16,000 scholarship per year), University of California, Davis, and University of California Santa Barbara.
Sharing about his achievements in this prestigious competition, Kevin expressed gratitude to teachers and friends for their guidance and feedback, helping his team identify strengths and maximize the potential of their business plan. He believes that in addition to a well-invested and detailed business plan, the key factor that contributed to his team's success in the main final round was their confident and persuasive public speaking skills.
"When I came to the U.S. and interacted with peers from many different countries, I realised that BVIS's public speaking training methods are truly different and effective. When I was still at school, I had many opportunities to participate in drama, being a regular MC and taking lead roles in artistic performances. In class, we had presentations every term, so when studying and living abroad, or facing challenges like this competition, I always feel very confident," Kevin added.
Congratulations to Kevin, and BVIS looks forward to hearing more about his experiences and that of our other successful alumnus in the U.S. and across the globe, in the future.
