Nguyen Lam Nhat Minh (born in 2005) was granted a scholarship of over USD 165,000 for four years by New York University (NYU – US).

Nhat Minh graduated from British-Vietnamese International School HCMC in June, surpassed thousands of candidates worldwide, and received a scholarship from NYU. This soon-to-be NYU-er will take Business with Core Concentrations starting in September.

NYU is ranked 25th among National Universities in the U.S., according to the U.S. World & News Report. This year, the university received over 120,000 applications with an acceptance rate of 8%.

To conquer this prestigious school, Nhat Minh cherished the dream of studying in the U.S. at the very beginning of her secondary years. She received helpful guidance from the BVIS University and College Counsellor and teachers throughout her admission process. Thanks to careful preparation from the beginning, she soon completed her resume and personal statement.

In addition, she was titled Vietnam’s Valedictorian in History in the IGCSE exams in June 2021, held by Cambridge Assessment International Education (CAIE).

According to Nhat Minh, besides grades and extracurricular activities, school admissions committees often look for individuals with their own colours and personalities, who also possess a potential for growth in line with the school's mission. Therefore, she took advantage of English to develop in-depth essay content, skillfully expressing her strengths and passions.

Moreover, in the personal statement, the BVIS HCMC alumnus demonstrated her leadership capabilities with diverse experiences as the President of the BVIS Secondary Student Council and expressed her care for society through a range of community projects.

In particular, Nhat Minh put an emphasis on the selling activity at the school Halloween event to raise funds for the victims from the Blue Dragon Children's Foundation in Vietnam.

"The projects have helped me strengthen my leadership abilities, growth, and perseverance in the face of difficulties," Minh added.
