Mr. Simon Higham, Principal
Dear Parents
It has been great to return to school this week following my attendance at the FOBISIA Business Meeting held in New Delhi.
I am pleased to report that the meeting went well and we are all looking forward to being able to offer even more enriching opportunities and experiences through our FOBISIA membership to both students and staff across BVIS.
This weekend, please take time to talk to your son/daughter about what they want to achieve above and beyond the curriculum in order to widen their horizons as they follow their BVIS journey – there's certainly lots to choose from!
Yet again, last week’s #Love BVIS Week was a huge success and I would like to personally thank each and every parent and student across our community in your engagement and connection that showcased your love and appreciation for our school.
This unique event that is held annually, brings our community even closer together in partnership and we look forward to developing this further in the future.

On behalf of everyone at BVIS, have a great weekend ahead.
Mrs Mary McAloon, Head of Primary
Over the last few weeks, our youngest learners have been eagerly awaiting their first opportunity to perform on stage for their families. The opening celebration of Christmas at BVIS was held this week in the theatre for EYFS families to join as an audience for the children as they sang songs and brought festive cheer.
The EYFS Christmas Sing-a-Long was a great success with children showing confidence in front of a large audience while they remembered the lyrics and actions for the songs they had been practising with their teachers. The community are now ready to begin celebrating this festive and joyful time of year.
Thank you to our EYFS children and the teaching team for putting together a wonderful performance for families to enjoy.
“Ah, music," he said, wiping his eyes. "A magic beyond all we do here!”
― J.K. Rowling, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone
The foyer certainly did feel as though there was magic in the air as our community was treated to the very first ‘Live Lunches’ in the Primary Foyer. As J.K. Rowling writes in her first book of the Harry Potter series, music is magical allowing the listener to dive deep and explore the story being depicted. This is exactly the scene that was created for our Y4 and Y5 primary students during the first ever ‘Live Lunches’ over the past two weeks.
Students were given the opportunity to perform in the foyer in an informal, relaxed environment during lunchtime and those who chose to, created an audience for the musicians. There was a selection of performers such as the choir, individual vocalists and pianists. Year 6 have their ‘Live Lunch’ next week – we are all excited to hear what they will be sharing with the audience.
Playing a musical instrument or practicing singing as a child has many benefits including, increased patience, self-esteem and coordination, plus it improves reading, maths and memory capacity.
Coming soon, Year 5 and 6 students will have the opportunity to register for additional 1 to 1 instrumental lessons. With the number of benefits of learning to play an instrument, I would encourage all Year 5 and Year 6 parents to discuss and consider this opportunity with your children.
The residentials for our Upper Primary students are planned and ready to be announced! This year the residentials will take place in Term 2 after the Tet holiday. Parents of these year groups have been emailed further information and invited to parent meetings next week to learn all about the exciting experiences planned for our oldest primary students. We look forward to welcoming all upper primary parents to the information meetings.

Please can you help to remind all students that they are invited to come and watch the Y12 students’ drama performance “100” in the Theatre. The show runs on the 13th, 14th and 15th December and the small ticket fee will go directly to Blue Dragon Charity.
We encourage all students to attend one of the days, both to support their peers, as well as getting to see a top-quality production.
Today saw the first ever Saigon Literary Festival and BVIS were strongly represented at this inter school event.
Students had the opportunity to present their work via different formats including artistic or dramatic performances using literature as the starting point.
The students greatly enjoyed the event and we are already looking to see how BVIS can make next year's event even better.
It’s almost time.
Limited tickets are left.
This week, our winner is from Year 9 ! A huge well done to Yen Minh (Olivia) from 9I who is this week’s champion. Well done Olivia!
With 138 housepoints this week’s deserved champions are 9I. An enormous well-done to them all!
They explored the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child and the Declaration of the Rights of the Child, then took part in important discussions about what changes we have seen to promote equality in our world. They debated and decided on what steps they thought we needed to take to make the world a better place for all children in the future.
Students and staff put these thoughts on postcards and shared them with our wonderful BVIS community.
The health, safety and wellbeing of our students remains the number one priority at BVIS HCMC.
