Mr. Simon Higham, Principal
Dear Parents
On behalf of everyone at BVIS, I would like to welcome you back to the new academic year 2022-23 and to this year’s first edition of the Weekly Highlights.
Whether you are a new family beginning your BVIS journey or an existing parent who has been with our school over 10 years, please ensure that you engage and connect with the Highlights that are sent directly to your email every Friday afternoon. Reading the Highlights each week will allow you to find out what has been happening across the school, celebrate individual and collective student successes and be reminded about important future events. Please take just 10 minutes each week to read through them - it is all I ask!
Over the last 2 weeks, our new teachers have been settling well into their new roles within our school through the structured induction programme that we organise for them. Of course, their highlight has been meeting our incredible students for the very first time this week and starting to build positive and effective learning relationships with them.
Each week, we will be introducing you to our new teachers so that you can get to know them better. This week, we welcome Mr Toby Bate, our new Secondary Headteacher. Click here to find out more.
At the end of July, it was extremely pleasing to read about the amazing success of Truong Thinh (Tommy) Nguyen who is one of our current Primary students at BVIS. Despite being the youngest Vietnamese candidate in the 9th Asia Arts Festival held this year in Singapore, he received two gold cups for two piano performance categories – an incredible achievement for our young musician! Well done Tommy, we are all very proud of your achievements.

As outlined in the letter sent to all parents last week, during the holiday, all of the scheduled updates and upgrades to our campus have successfully been completed to further enhance the learning opportunities of all BVIS students.
Early next week, look out for an invitation to come and see these updates and upgrades for yourself with our new Principal's Afternoon Tea event on Wednesday 7th September at 2.00pm. Aimed at further engaging and connecting parents with our school, we plan to run several of these sessions throughout the year, dealing with relevant topics suggested by parents and teachers.
We look forward to you signing up next week so please save the date and remember to check your email!
Have you downloaded this year’s academic calendar, looked at our monthly menus to see what your child can choose for lunch each day or looked through the EYFS, Primary and Secondary Handbooks?
All of the above (and more) can be found via the ‘parent essentials’section on our school website. This can be found at the bottom of the Homepage.
The health, safety and wellbeing of our students remains the number one priority at BVIS HCMC.
Should you have a concern for the welfare of any child in our school, please refer to our Safeguarding poster below:
As always, we wish you a lovely weekend ahead and as always, thank you for your continued support of our school and your children’s journey with us.
