School Day Updates We are writing to update you on some changes we are making to the school day, starting on Monday 6th September.

We are writing to update you on some changes we are making to the school day, starting on Monday 6th September.

The requirements of the Uzbek Curriculum taught in Private/International Schools has changed and we now only have to teach 3 subjects during Uzbek School :

  • Uzbek Language
  • Uzbek History
  • Physical Social and Health Education

The International Curriculum taught at BST covers all the requirements needed to obtain the Uzbek Atestat.

Due to this, we are able to reduce the number of hours needed to teach Uzbek School in both Primary and Secondary and incorporate it into our school day. Across both sections, Primary and Secondary, Uzbek School will now be taught on two days for each year group. In Primary (Years 3-6), Uzbek School will run on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 14:15 to 15:15. Those students who do not attend Uzbek School, will participate in Global Perspective lessons on these days and times.

In Secondary, the Uzbek School will run as below, again from 14:15 – 15:15 :

  • Year 7
    • Monday and Wednesday
  • Year 8
    • Wednesday and Friday
  • Year 9
    • Monday and Wednesday
  • Year 10
    • Monday and Friday
  • Year 11
    • Wednesday and Friday
  • Year 12/13
    • Monday and Friday

Again, students who do not attend Uzbek School will participate in Global Perspective lessons.

Because the teachers responsible for teaching the Uzbek Curriculum are part-time teachers we had to spread the lessons in secondary over 5 days with different year groups on different days.

On Mondays and Wednesdays, we will be running Extra Curricular Activities for years 3 to 6 between 14:15 and 15:15.

Extra-Curricular Activities for Secondary will run all week so that students can sign up to clubs when they are not at Uzbek School/Global Perspectives lessons.

The Extra Curricular Activity list will be sent out on Tuesday, with detailed instructions on how the students can sign up to the clubs. These clubs are not compulsory, so students can be collected at 14:15 on the days, should they not wish to participate in a club. However we strongly encourage students to sign-up for clubs as we firmly believe in educating the whole child and clubs help develop children just as much as academic lessons.

On Sayram Campus, Extra Curricular Activities will run on a Tuesdays and Thursdays between 14:15 and 15:15.

If you have questions please do not hesitate to contact either Ms. Rachel (Head of Primary) or Mr. Simon (Head of Secondary)
