We are delighted to announce that Dr André Nel will be the next Principal at The British School of Tashkent (BST). He will be joining us at the start of the new academic year in August 2020.
Dr André Nel will be joining BST from ABQ Azzan Bin Qais International School in Muscat, Oman, where he has been Principal since 2014. He brings a wealth of teaching and leadership experience having worked in seven international schools with three Headships. He is familiar with a range of curriculums and is a qualified school inspector, leading schools to become members of BSME, CIS and COBIS.
Upon visiting the campus, Dr Nel’s first impression was that BST has a friendly, inviting atmosphere where he felt at home. He is particularly looking forward to the new building project and facilities that are envisioned, as well as getting to know the students, parents and staff better.
Asked what experience and knowledge he will bring to BST, Dr Nel said: “I will bring my love and passion for education to the students, parents and staff. I want to inspire both students and staff to be committed and dedicated. I believe that every student is valued and worthy of our best effort every day.
He added: “My vision is to focus on addressing the academic, emotional, and social needs of all the students at BST. I want to create a learning environment that is both functional and inviting. I will share my knowledge and experience and hopefully help make BST reach even greater heights.”
The new Principal is a trained teacher in a wide variety of subjects, including Geography, History, English & Mathematics. He holds a PhD in Educational Psychology & Sociology and his Master's thesis focused on the management and leadership skills required for successful Principals. He is passionate about growing others and empowering teachers in order to provide children with a lifelong love of learning.
Dr André Nel will be replacing our current Principal, Adrian Macaulay.
