Y2B Class Assembly: Celebrate Every Pupil's Effort

Y2 B Class Assembly Surprises Parents and BSN Community - Y2B Class Assembly
Y2B Class Assembly

The children of Year 2B recently took to the stage to present an entertaining class assembly with an interesting theme. The students shared the story of the intrepid Adverb Man, a daring superhero who is as famous for fighting crime as he is for his love of fantastic sentence grammar!

In the story, a dastardly supervillain known as Professor Mixalot visited BSN and used her latest invention to steal all the punctuation from the children’s books. The children knew that this would mean their writing would no longer make sense. Luckily, Adverb Man arrived with a group of sentence-loving superheroes to save the day!

To accomplish their task, the superheroes needed to work together to uplevel sentences. This meant starting with simple sentences and improving them by adding more interesting, descriptive vocabulary. The children of Year 2 have been exploring how to improve their writing by including expanded noun phrases, powerful verbs, and adverbs, and these are all great examples of how to uplevel sentences and make them more engaging to the reader.

In the end, the brave Adverb Man, together with his team, was able to use his sentence-improving skills to create some fantastic examples of writing, thwart Professor Mixalot’s plans, and subsequently return the punctuation to BSN. This was, of course, great news for all the students and teachers!

All in all, the children of Year 2B had a wonderful time presenting their special show on the auditorium stage to an audience that included their parents and family members as well as students from across the primary school. Each class in the primary school has the opportunity to present their own class assembly during the academic year, and they are always exciting events. Pupils are given their own scripts and prepare for their assembly by learning their lines and developing their drama skills in rehearsals. Through this process, they learn vital lessons about how making an effort to be prepared can reap rewards later on.

Being a part of performances such as this has been shown to have many additional benefits for students, including developing teamwork skills, growing independence, and building confidence in public speaking. Students and teachers always look back on their class assemblies and remember them as notable highlights of the school year. For the children of Year 2B, the story of Adverb Man and his noble quest to uplevel sentences will be one that lives in their memories for a long, long time!
