A Book Review: 35 kilos d'espoir This month, Ms Hu is bringing to us the review of one of her latest reads that she highly recommends.

What's the book about?

" Do you hate school? " Gregoire hated going to school, even felt disgusted. By the sixth grade, he had been repeated twice. However, he has a pair of skillful hands. He likes to stick to his grandfather after school, knocking, disassembling and repairing machinery. His parents also wanted to help their son, but it resulted in constant conflicts and quarrels in the family. The only person who listened to Gregoire's heart was his grandfather. He loves this grandson very much and teaches him how to face the current situation and difficulties in life. Gregoire finally found a suitable school for him, and courageously submitted a letter of study.

What have you enjoyed about the book?

The protagonist seems to be living by our side: I don’t like to study, hate school, afraid of physical education. When I come home, my parents are quarreling with each other. Although they are useless in the eyes of others, they are unique in some respects and talented.

This book is undoubtedly a cold mirror : What is the mission of education? What role should parents, teachers, and peers play in the growth of children?
This novel is there to remind you that the human factor can change everything: love for your family or love for a loved one, try to understand, empathy ...

Why should someone else read it?

For teachers and parents, we can learn something about how to support the pupils who are not interested in learning. One is to understand him, discover his strengths, and give him a chance to show it. The second is to find ways to make him interested in learning as much as possible. This kind of self-defeating children need to lower their requirements and expectations,  and guide them in small steps.

For students, never give up on your dreams and keep moving forward even someone laughs at you or discourages you.
