Simon Head Message
Week 6, Term 2, 2024/2025
I hope you had a brilliant week, this past week, we have been proud to celebrate Children’s Mental Health Week, focusing on the theme "Know Yourself, Grow Yourself."

The theme encouraged our children to reflect on their strengths, understand their emotions, and recognise that personal growth starts with self-awareness. Throughout the week, children engaged in a range of activities that supported their mental well-being and helped them build resilience, confidence, and self-belief.

In classrooms, children explored what makes them unique, discussing their personal strengths and how they can use these to overcome challenges. Many took part in creative projects helping them express their thoughts and emotions in a positive way.

Beyond the classroom, our assemblies and group discussions focused on the power of a growth mindset, helping children understand that mistakes and setbacks are opportunities for learning. We also emphasised the importance of positive relationships, showing kindness to others, and knowing when to seek support. It was heart-warming to see children sharing encouraging words, supporting their peers, and reflecting on how they can be a good friend.

At BSKL, we firmly believe that mental health is just as important as academic success. By helping our children recognise their emotions, take care of their well-being, and support one another, we are equipping them with lifelong skills for happiness and success. A huge thank you to our staff for leading meaningful discussions, organising engaging activities, and creating an environment where children feel safe and valued. We also appreciate our parents for reinforcing these important messages at home and continuing the conversation about emotional well-being.

To finish the week on a positive note, Valentine’s Day was the perfect opportunity to spread kindness and appreciation throughout the school. Today, we encouraged students and staff to use their character strengths of love, gratitude, and kindness to show appreciation for one another. Whether through handwritten notes, small acts of kindness, or simply taking a moment to say, "thank you," it has been wonderful to see the warmth and positivity shared across our school community. As we continue our journey in nurturing happy, confident, and resilient children, let's remember that mental well-being is something we can support every day, not just for one week!

Happy Valentine’s Day and have a wonderful weekend,
