Year 11 Return for Sixth Form Transition Week

Year 11 Return for Sixth Form Transition Week
Last week, we welcomed back some of our Year 11 students, and some new faces, to experience an exciting and enriching Year 11 to Sixth Form Transition Week, designed to prepare them for the next stage in their academic journey. The week was packed with activities that provided a comprehensive introduction to Sixth Form life and helped students feel more confident about the transition.
The ‘Introduction to Sixth Form’ session offered students insights into the expectations and opportunities that lie ahead, while a special focus on the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) and research skills equipped them with valuable tools for independent learning and academic success. Our careers and Unifrog session opened doors to future possibilities, encouraging students to start thinking about their aspirations and the steps needed to achieve them.

Students also participated in a Psychology taster session, which included some practical aspects, sparking interest and curiosity in this fascinating subject area. Beyond academics, the week emphasised the importance of teamwork, building relationships and community. The students took on a cooking challenge, and impressed some of their new form tutors with their collaboration (and pancake making!) skills. Time spent bonding with current Year 12 students provided an opportunity for our transitioning students to ask questions and gain advice from their peers. Additionally, we welcomed back a few of our alumni, who offered inspiring stories of success and practical tips for making the most of Sixth Form.

Overall, the Transition Week was a great success, leaving students feeling excited and prepared for their upcoming Sixth Form journey. We look forward to welcoming them back to school in August and seeing them thrive in this new chapter of their education.
