BSKL Adventure Programme - A journey of growth and discovery
We are thrilled to share the success of our recent BSKL Adventure Program trips, designed to foster personal growth, resilience, and a deeper connection to nature among our students.
First Trip: Introduction to Outdoor Recreation at FRIM

On the 17th of May, our Year 10 students embarked on an adventurous day trip to the Forest Research Institute Malaysia (FRIM). This trip served as an excellent introduction to the physical fitness and mental readiness required for outdoor activities. The hike to Pine Hill proved to be more challenging than anticipated, but our students rose to the occasion, demonstrating remarkable determination and team spirit. A highlight of the trip was the opportunity for students to cook their own meals, which they thoroughly enjoyed.

Second Trip: Wilderness Immersion at Tanarimba, Janda Baik

Building on the skills developed at FRIM, our students participated in an overnight trip to Tanarimba, Janda Baik, on the 10th and 11th of June. This wilderness immersion allowed them to apply their newly acquired skills in a real-world setting. After setting up camp, the students explored the stunning Enderong forest and its waterfall, and later cooked their own meals using Trangia stoves, showcasing their teamwork and self-reliance. The evening's activities included a short night walk, where students observed the rich flora and fauna, further enhancing their appreciation for the natural world. On the second day, our adventure led us to Orang Asli land in Ulu Chemperoh, where students observed ginger and rubber tree cultivation, providing a unique insight into local agriculture and cultural practices.

Looking Ahead

We are excited to announce that the BSKL Adventure Program will continue to grow in the next academic year. Building on these foundational trips, we plan to introduce even more challenging and diverse activities, such as sea kayaking, white-water rafting, and rock climbing. Our goal is to deepen students' understanding of the natural environment and the importance of conservation while fostering essential life skills such as problem-solving, leadership, and independence.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to Mr. Hilder, Ms. Spratt, and Ms. Abiman Yu for their unwavering support and dedication throughout these trips.

There will be an information session with a Q&A at the beginning of the next academic year to provide more details about the future of the BSKL Adventure Program. We look forward to continuing this journey of growth and discovery with our students.
