BSKL Primary Idols 2023

BSKL Primary Idol
BSKL Primary Idols 2023
Over 70 children from Year 1 - 6 entered our highly anticipated BSKL Primary Idol competition. Some children performed in a group with their friends, with a partner or with their sibling, and the majority of children performed as a soloist. We saw a wide variety of performances including dance routines, rock band songs, piano pieces, violin pieces, singers, magic acts and some speech and drama.

Mr Merino and I had the difficult job of shortlisting the performers and selecting 10 acts for the Grand Final which was held during assembly on Friday 20th October. The 10 acts we chose to perform in the Final really represent the diverse range of interests, talents, and skills our BSKL students have.

In the Finals, our whole-school audience watched an exciting programme which included traditional Chinese and Indian dances, 2 fantastic pop singers, a ballet dance, a pianist, a violinist, rock guitarist, drummer and the fantastic "Sushi Twins" with their presentation about Capital Cities and Maths! All the finalists performed to a high standard and demonstrated how hard they had worked to gain those skills and to make sure they were fully prepared for the daunting task of performing in front of an audience of 700+ people.

The judges panel was made up of 4 teachers from across our school, Ms Ngwenya our fabulous drama teacher, Mr Brownlow and Mr Allen our KS2 teachers extraordinaire and our multi-talented Director of Music Ms Howarth. All the judges were unanimous in their decision to award the winner's trophy to Agniia Babintseva for her incredibly polished and captivating dance performance. Congratulations to Agniia, a thoroughly well-deserved achievement.

For any aspiring actors, singers, dancers or instrumentalists out there - see you for next year's BSKL Primary Idol!
