Last week, BSKL Sixth Form students were fortunate to be visited by university representatives from the admissions teams at Northeastern, Chapman, Boston, and Wesleyan University’s.
The representatives delivered a Common App Essay Workshop, which was a brilliant opportunity for our US applicants to benefit from the wealth of knowledge and experience from the university representatives. The workshop covered a wide range of topics relevant to the journey an applicant would go through in completing a high-quality essay, such as how to choose a good essay topic, where to go for advice, proofreading tips, general essay structure and what universities are looking for in an essay, as well as some common ‘dos and don’ts’ in essay writing. This was then followed by a lengthy Q&A session where our US applicants had the opportunity to gain comprehensive insight from the university admission tutor’s directly, to aid them in constructing a well-structured, excellent Common App Essay’s. Then later in the week our Y13 US applicants were again fortunate to be visited by an alumni representative from Yale University, who delivered a fantastic information session all about Yale University. This included general information about Yale, what type of students are a fit for Yale University and the type of graduates that Yale produces. He also shared photographs of Yales unique university campus and an insight into what life is like at Yale University. Overall last week’s sessions were an amazing experience for our US applicants who are nearing the end of their application process, we wish them the best of luck.
