We started with reviewing our current knowledge of the Global Goals and then spent time researching each of the 17 Global Goals. Key to our understanding is the interconnectedness of the goals and how they relate to us as individuals. To assist with this, students engaged in discussions about what issues were important to them on a local, national, regional and global level. As part of their reflection, students also identified the Global Goals that were of the most interest to them and we encourage you to continue these discussions at home. It is truly encouraging to hear their insights.
Our lesson next week will allow students to collect more information on their chosen issue. This is a vital part of Service Learning as students need to engage with an issue and the communities it impacts in order to decide on the best course of action. The rest of this half-term will focus on the steps needed for successful Service Learning.
At the heart of this programme is the development of students' compassion. As an ultimately social feeling, our aim is for students to feel empowered to take action in the world around them and to be truly globally connected.
As part of our efforts to involve the whole BSKL community, we have also been conducting surveys of staff and students to build on existing links with organisations locally. We would like to extend this to our parent community. Please complete the
form to assist us in understanding our current involvement as a community.
Kind regards,
