Her research titled ‘The Potential Use of Black Seeds, Coconut Flower sugar, Tualang Honey and selected rhizomes in oral health product development’ was accepted to be presented in front of more than 700 researchers from all over the world.
Serena had to present and answer questions from leaders of the field and fellow undergraduates. She carried herself, her research, and the school name well. Her research has attracted interest for further collaboration from a few universities around the continent. Overall, this gave her the opportunity to step outside of her comfort zone, and understand concepts beyond the classroom syllabus - and applying this understanding through answering spontaneous questions by the judges. This achievement depict the high standard of science education offered at BSKL.
Her research aims to demonstrate whether a mixture of certain locally sourced components in edible form are proven to be beneficial for the healing of wounds orally, whether it can be considered a preventative measure of the build up of plaque, and beyond.
The research is in the process of being published in tier 1 international journal and International Invention and Innovation In Dentistry 2023 in September.
Well done Serena!
