Achieving outstanding grades, crafting a strong university application, and deciding what their future looks like – students encounter some of their biggest academic decisions in their final years of school. At BSKL, our community of experienced staff help our students to navigate this complex journey. Here are three key ways we prepare our students for success – whatever they choose to be or do in life – starting with the best university application.
Planning the right university pathway
From choosing the right subjects to study, to deciding a topic for an extended essay, Year 11 and 12 students are given far greater responsibility for shaping what they want to study than they have experienced before in earlier school years. To help them enjoy and make the most of this opportunity at BSKL, our teachers work directly with every student to guide them through choosing their areas of study. Since there’s a direct correlation between Year 12 and 13 subjects and university degrees, students can structure their coursework to their advantage to support their university aspirations.
Bringing subjects to life through a wide network
Our teachers' own experiences of studying at some of the world’s best institutes is a huge advantage for our students, as is our expansive alumni network. When our students are considering university subjects, they are guided by those who have studied all over the world. Hearing first hand what universities offer, and what university life is like, ensures our students receive a level of insight they may not elsewhere.
University applications that stand out
The world’s top universities ask for more than exceptional grades. From the lower school years through to Year 12 and 13, our students are encouraged to explore their hobbies and interest outside the classroom, and pursue extra-curricular activities which will make all the difference when it comes to applying for university.
As a Nord Anglia school, BSKL is one of 76 in more than 30 countries around the world. We have an extensive community of teachers, university counsellors and alumni with collective knowledge on application systems, university subject criteria, and life studying abroad.
Preparing the best university application involves real world experience, outstanding academic achievements, and a holistic understanding of the process from start to finish. Find out more about how our University Counsellor supports our students’ learning journey to university.
