Academic excellence

Our happy, supportive culture fuels our students’ success, inspiring them to be ambitious and work hard to get outstanding results.

For three consecutive years, our A-level results were the best of any Nord Anglia school in Asia. In 2022, every single one of our A-level students passed their exams, with 68% getting A* or A grades. And at IGCSE, 80% of our class of 2022 earned A* or A grades.

Our students’ individual talents also shine brightly. In 2022, 47 of our learners were recognised at the Pearson Excellence Awards for their outstanding achievements in IGCSE and A-level exams. Two of our students achieved ‘best in the world’ results, too, in IGCSE drama and AS-level history.

To get to this point, all our students – from early years through to sixth form – follow the English National Curriculum. Used by more than 30,000 schools worldwide, our curriculum is respected by leading universities and employers.

Crucially, your child will go on a personalised learning journey that’s designed around their passions, talents, and ambitions. This includes the opportunity to join our Be Ambitious programme, which challenges our most gifted students.

Outstanding academic outcomes create a world of opportunities, and many of our students continue their education at the world’s best universities, including Cambridge, University College London, and the University of Edinburgh.

Exceptional learning experiences
So much of what our students learn at BSKL takes place beyond the classroom. Your child will achieve extraordinary things on life-changing trips, at more than 100 after-school clubs, and through exclusive collaborations with boundary-pushing organisations like UNICEF.

Exceptional learning experiences

At BSKL, we provide outstanding opportunities for our students to fulfil their potential, showcase their skills, and achieve at the highest level.

Our exclusive collaborations with The Juilliard School and MIT spark our students’ creativity and curiosity in art, music, dance, drama, and STEAM. We’ll inspire your child to speak up on important issues and make a real difference, too. One way they’ll do this is through our partnership with UNICEF, which challenges them to drive change on the international stage.

From cooking and hip-hop dance to fencing and Capoeira, more than 100 co-curricular activities give every student the chance to do what they love, challenge themselves, and uncover new passions. And on local, national, and international trips, your child will form lifelong friendships, grow in confidence, and develop a global perspective.

Our happy, positive school culture is underpinned by our commitment to student wellbeing. Handpicked students encourage others to share kind words and acts with their classmates. Fun, friendly activities, including community art projects, our Wellbeing Wall, and Kindness Week, promote a healthy school-life balance. Plus, we’re privileged to employ Nord Anglia’s global wellbeing lead.

Our social purpose
Achieving great things at BSKL means having a positive impact on our school, the community, and across the world. Here, your child will get involved in practical projects that change things for the better, developing a host of valuable skills in the process.
Our social purpose

At BSKL, our students use their courage, knowledge, and determination to make a difference to people, causes, and communities in Malaysia and across the globe.

Our BSKL for Malayan Tigers group – set up by students – raises awareness of the endangered Malayan Tiger. To date, our children have spread the word in 12 countries, raising more than RM100,000. Their commitment to the cause has also been recognised by the Worldwide Fund for Nature (WWF). In school, our Eco Lions group drives sustainability, helping us build a more environmentally minded community and a brighter, greener campus.

While they’re with us, your child will also learn about the challenges facing our planet – and act to address them. One of the ways they’ll do this is through our exclusive collaboration with UNICEF.

Our students hone their public speaking, writing, researching, and teamwork skills at the annual UNICEF Global Summit. And at the BSKL Model United Nations (MUN) Conference, we welcome colourful debate and discussion on global themes, including migration. Our students learn to collaborate with their peers, explore and research, communicate with passion and enthusiasm, and develop creative solutions to the world’s toughest problems.

We encourage our Year 10-13 students to take part in The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award, too. By immersing themselves in experiences that build confidence, perseverance, and independence, our students learn new skills and give back to the community. The Award is such a valued part of life at BSKL that we’ve built our own programme for Year 7-9 students.

World's best teachers
Your child will learn from the best: exceptional educators who are committed to academic success, nurture emotional and social growth, and foster a culture of happiness and aspiration.

World's best teachers

Being part of the Nord Anglia family of schools means we can recruit the best: UK-qualified educators who have extensive experience in British and international schools, and who are specialists in their field.

Our first language, English-speaking teachers are experts at personalising learning to different strengths, skills, and ambitions. With an average teacher to student ratio of one to ten, they’ll make sure your child progresses at a pace and in a way that’s right for them. This includes nurturing their emotional and social development, as well as making sure they achieve academically.

It’s important our teachers are ambitious learners, too. We offer unparalleled opportunities for them to develop and grow, supported by accreditation from the best training organisations. On our award-winning Nord Anglia University platform, for example, teachers share ideas with colleagues across the globe, study for further qualifications – including a Master’s in International Education – and access resources from world-leading organisations like MIT and The Juilliard School.

We’re passionate about helping our teachers achieve their career goals. Regular professional development sessions inspire them to expand their knowledge, share expertise, and learn something new every week. This also guarantees your child will receive the highest quality instruction.

Advanced learning environment

Nestled in a quiet residential suburb of Petaling Jaya – to the west of Kuala Lumpur city – our modern school is surrounded by tall trees and green spaces, as well as being close to shopping malls and useful amenities.

Our state-of-the-art campus has been carefully designed to maximise every element of your child’s time here. Specialist spaces, which include an entire corridor dedicated to STEAM (with design technology, computing, and science labs), play host to exhilarating 21st century learning experiences. Our fully equipped food technology lab is one of only a handful in Malaysia, and enhances our primary students’ appreciation of cooking, healthy eating, and wellbeing.

Twenty music rooms, two drama and dance studios, and a spectacular 600-seat auditorium unlock our students’ creativity, enabling them to flourish physically, artistically, and intellectually. And on our shaded Astroturf pitch, outdoor basketball courts, sports halls, swimming pools, and rooftop play areas, young athletes get active, try new things, and compete against their friends and other schools.

We also have a dedicated Sixth Form Centre, secondary breakout spaces, three libraries, and several canteens and cafés. And you’ll be sure of a warm welcome in our recently renovated admissions suite.

The Nord Anglia Education family

Our thriving international family is home to parents, children, and staff from more than 60 countries. Your child will join a welcoming community where they can confidently express their talents, pursue new passions, and carve their own path to success.

On our Global Campus platform, every student is part of a unique international family of learners. Your child will connect with, collaborate, and learn alongside peers from 32 countries. They’ll also take part in exclusive global projects, including Minecraft competitions, coding challenges, and maths skill-building games.

Other Nord Anglia activities and events, including large-scale festivals in sports, music, STEAM, and Model United Nations, give our students incredible opportunities to make international friendships and expand their worldview.

Our parents and families love to get involved in school life, too. Through annual events and traditions like our Christmas Bazaar and Pink Day – as well as weekly activities like cookery classes and fitness sessions – you’ll quickly become an integral member of our community.

We’re also incredibly proud of our growing network of alumni. They deliver virtual advice sessions for current A-level students, painting a colourful picture of life at university and beyond. Every year – and with the support of our university counsellor – former BSKL students welcome recent graduates to campuses across the world, helping them settle into their new surroundings.
