BSG Guangzhou Scholarships 2024/25
At BSG, we dedicated an entire week to celebrating International Women’s Day with engaging and meaningful activities, ensuring that every student understands its significance.
A Thoughtful Start: PSHE Discussions
The celebrations began in PSHE lessons, where students explored the history of IWD and its significance in promoting gender equality. They discussed inspirational women from various fields—scientists, athletes, activists, artists, and leaders—gaining a deeper appreciation for their impact on society. These discussions sparked curiosity and encouraged students to reflect on the barriers women have overcome and the challenges that still exist.
Student-Led Assemblies: Engaging and Thought-Provoking
Our student-led assemblies were a highlight of the celebrations. Through interactive presentations and thought-provoking scenarios, students engaged in discussions about gender equality, breaking stereotypes, and fostering a more inclusive world. These assemblies provided a platform for students to voice their perspectives and learn from one another, reinforcing the values of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI).
"Save a Seat" – Honouring Inspirational Women
One of the most impactful initiatives of the week was "Save a Seat"—a symbolic tribute to inspirational women. Every school bus at BSG had a seat specially reserved for a remarkable woman from history, science, arts, sports, or social activism. Students were encouraged to "Save a Seat for Her" and share stories about the women they chose, sparking meaningful conversations and raising awareness about the contributions of women worldwide.
EDI Display Boards: Celebrating Representation
The reception area was transformed into an inspiring space showcasing the achievements of women from diverse backgrounds. Our EDI display boards highlighted stories of resilience, innovation, and leadership, reinforcing the message that gender equality benefits everyone.
Through these initiatives, we reinforced our commitment to fostering a culture of respect, inclusion, and empowerment. As we honor the achievements of women, we also look ahead to a future where everyone has equal opportunities to thrive.
Last week, our dedicated teachers and leaders travelled to Shanghai for the Nord Anglia China International Schools Leadership Conference, focusing on "planning for the probable, while considering the possible."
BSG was delighted to welcome back Juilliard Music Curriculum Specialist, Ms Andrea Lee, who played a key role in launching the Juilliard-Nord Anglia Performing Arts Programme in 2015.
Last weekend, our students—Livvy (9A), Clayton (8D), Juliet (9C), and Eunice (10C)—had the incredible opportunity to attend the ISCMS Orchestra and Choir Festival in Shanghai, an experience they will never forget.
Today our school was full of excitement as we celebrated Chinese New Year together! The day started with our adorable Early Years students singing beautifully in Chinese, followed by amazing performances from students across the school.
