Year 4 Get Dirty with the Digestive System

This week, Year 4 finished their mini topic of the digestive system by creating their own example of it, using everyday items. Over the last several weeks, the children have been learning about the delightful journey that food makes, from being crushed up in the mouth, swallowed down the slimy esophagus, entering the acidic stomach, passing through the endless small and large intestines, to the waste being expelled from the anus. The children used orange juice, biscuits, a Ziplock bag, a pair of tights, plastic and paper cups, to replicate this amazing journey! Can they retell you what each everyday item represented in our digestive system?
