Steve Linahan

Year 5 Teacher
Steve Linahan - Steve-Linahan

BA (hons), PGCE, NPQH

Steve graduated with a BA (Hons) in Philosophy from the University of Leeds and received his PGCE from University College of Ripon and York St. John. The first twelve years of his teaching career were spent working in state primary schools in the North West of England. During this time, he was fortunate enough to be able to contribute to pupil progress both at classroom and whole school level. In his last role in the UK, Steve was promoted to the role of Deputy Headteacher.

After successfully completing his NPQH in 2008, he moved to Saudi Arabia to take on the headship of a small British Curriculum Primary school. This was a wonderful job, providing him with an opportunity to make a positive impact across all aspects of school life, and to work with children across the primary age range.

After his last role as Deputy Head at the British International School Riyadh, Diplomatic Quarter, Steve felt it was the right time to take on a new challenge outside of Saudi Arabia. BSB Shunyi, with its excellent reputation was the perfect choice, and he joined and led the Year 1 team in August 2022.

In his spare time, Steve hopes to be travelling, exploring locations that are off the beaten track, finding new places to eat and drink and learning as much as he possibly can about the culture of his new home. His other passions include making sure he always have a good book on the go and playing his guitar. Steve has recently taken up golf which is providing him with joy and frustration in equal measure.
