Hear from our New Teachers - Powering up a Winning School

Let’s give a warm welcome to all new teachers and teaching assistants who joined BSB Shunyi this school year! They have been participating in an intensive New Staff Induction Programme since last week hosted by our School Leaders.

This week starting on Monday 12^th August, they were joined by our returning staff and together, all teaching staff attended workshops and trainings and shared best practices on delivering high-quality lessons. Teachers in each year group and in their respective curriculum departments set priorities as a team and focus on ways to support our students in all areas, encouraging them to develop a lifelong love of learning.

On Tuesday, we were honoured to hear from Dr. Terry Creissen OBE, Managing Director of Nord Anglia Education China schools. Dr. Creissen celebrated the success of our region and our school with us. It is always inspiring and motivating to hear from him in person.

At BSB, we’re proud of our forever-dedicated and inspiring team of international teachers. We recruit only the best, so that you can be confident your child is learning from the world’s most passionate, equipped, and up-to-date educators. Our teachers have a wealth of experience, both in the UK and overseas. All hold UK Qualified Teacher status or equivalent, many have master’s degrees and some have PhD degrees.

Daniel Bell - IB CAS Coordinator, TOK/English Teacher

Everyone at BSB Shunyi has been incredibly welcoming since arriving in Beijing. I couldn't have asked for more support from the HR team, School/Curriculum Leaders as well as Teaching Assistants, Bus Drivers and Ayis who have gone out of their way to help settle us into our new school. There is a real sense of community within the school that makes me the new school year incredibly exciting for myself and my family.

Daniel Hollister-Short - Year 6 Teacher

Being new to Nord Anglia Schools, I have been inspired by the opportunities to develop myself as a teacher. Through working in collaboration with fellow colleagues allowing us to grow together as a team, as a whole school and throughout the Nord Anglia network.

DiAnna Pantano - Visual Art Teacher

As a teacher new to BSB and the Nord Anglia Education network, I am very excited about the opportunities for professional growth within our network that I have learned about over this last week. Like most teachers, I love to learn, and consider myself a life-long student. It is fantastic to learn how growth and continuing education is such an emphasis of the Nord Anglia Education network. I am excited to join this community of engaged professionals, and look forward to exploring all the opportunities to learn and grow as an educator, and best serve my students here in Beijing.

I really like the “Empower US” introduction, “Supporting of EAL Learners in Classrooms” and the different Workshops. I joined the “Social Impact” Workshop and “Using Math's Manipulatives”. They were really interesting and I got inspirations on how we can use it in our classes.
