BSB Shunyi was thrilled to participate in the Equality, Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging (EDIB) Expedition in Tanzania, joining 29 other schools for this enriching event.
Our school was proudly represented by Mr. Rugera Wanjara, our Primary ICT Lead, who embraced his role as our newly appointed EDIB champion. Ms. Abigail Alexis-Olubuyide, our Head of Primary, delivered inspiring workshops on "Leading Change," "Working with Complexities," and "An Introduction to Neurodiversity Dialogue," motivating all attendees with her insights.
Beyond the stimulating workshops, participants learned about Seeway's efforts to provide quality education to many children in the community (SDG4) and Sanaa's initiatives to bring economic stability to community members with physical disabilities (SDG8).
NAE partnered with The Foundation for Tomorrow, an organisation dedicated to supporting both students and educators in the region, to host a professional learning day. This event brought together our champions and 50 teachers from Tanzania to delve into neurodiversity and dialogue on the needs of staff and students in creating truly inclusive classrooms.
Finally, our EDIB champions were given the opportunity to give back to the local community by building goat sheds, installing solar panels, and constructing smokeless stoves, an initiative initially conceived by two BSB Shunyi students a few years ago. (See photos below).
BSB Shunyi is excited to advance NAE's vision of making our schools a place where everyone can truly belong.
