In preparation for the STEAM week showcase, the children have read the story of ‘The Three Little Pigs’. The children thoroughly enjoyed the big bad wolf in the story, and it provoked many discussions about strong materials for building and how to keep the big bad wolf out.
Extending and building upon this interest, children were introduced to new vocabulary (architect, landscape architect and green roof); as well as sustainable ways to grow a green roof and why this is important.
Using modern technology, the children saw green roof inspirations created by Artificial Intelligence and used this as a stimulus to generate ideas collaboratively. Each class begun to plan and design their home with a growing green roof and has begun the process by sowing seeds into the soil on aluminum foil.
