In Early Years, Nursery children have been exceptionally busy this week. They have been treating ‘patients’, giving injections, and even performing surgeries. They have also turned into firefighters and put out ‘fires’ everywhere. Then they got into their police uniforms to put ‘bad guys’ into ‘prison’ made of chairs...
In Reception, the children discussed their favourite hairstyles and tried to dictate the process of getting a haircut in Chinese. They also designed different hairstyles for their dolls.
In Year 1 (non-native group) the children learned the topic of ‘school’. They learnt the vocabulary of classroom and stationery and have been practising sentences like 学校有很多教室 (there are many classrooms in the school) or asking open questions like 学校里面有什么 (what do we have in a school?)
Year 5 (native group) children have been very creative this week. They came up with lots of great ideas to help them introduce wonderful natural phenomena and used vivid and beautiful words to describe different scenes of nature.

Storytelling is at the heart of everything we do, and it extends far beyond literacy. It is transdisciplinary, meaning children naturally integrate their knowledge of phonics into storytelling, create maths stories, and weave in elements of science, curiosity, and their understanding of the world.
This term, Year 2 have been learning about many interesting people in our ‘What makes someone inspirational?' Topic. They have explored space pioneers, technology forerunners, civil right activists, inventors and many other inspiring individuals.
