The Year 1 children are looking at the story of 'The Bog Baby'. They have been busy writing debates about whether they think the girls in the story should have taken the Bog Baby from the bog or whether they should take it back. They used their own opinions to turn them into sentences and used these sentences to debate with their teachers.
We have also been thinking about our senses and what they are and how we use them. The children identified the 5 senses and for their activity they had 5 tables of different items for each sense. They took it in turns to move around the tables, using adjectives to describe what they could see, smell, hear, touch and taste. They had a table of 'stinky' cheese, 'nice' flowers and 'smelly' coffee to smell and tasted some 'spicy' ginger, 'squishy' marshmellows and 'juicy' apples to name a few!
The children used their sense to describe what their own Bog Baby would look like, they turned these into sentences and will use their character description to make their Bog Baby come to life using clay!

Here, at BSB Sanlitun, we were pleased to host two weeks of visits of two Juilliard specialists from New York, across 3 full working days. Our Primary students got to experience a variety of lessons and teaching styles as Nick Mahmat and Brian Drye stepped into our classrooms and led music and drama activities.
What a wonderful day we had hosting our annual Chinese New Year Temple Fair on campus on Sunday. This great community event included games, a Lion Dance, Dragon Dance, a face changing performance, traditional crafts, a bouncy castle, food vendors and gift stalls. Thanks to everyone who made the event possible and magical!
