It has been a great week for learning new topics in all Chinese classrooms. Students learned new texts and Chinese characters by engaging in a variety of activities.
Reception children have been learning about how seeds dispersal and grow. After listening and singing to the song A Leaf Grows, children demonstrated their knowledge about what a seed needs to grow into a plant. They love this song and enjoy singing and dancing along.
Year 1 Native Group students are learning a chant Frog Writes Poems. Through this interesting children's chant, they learned about how commas, periods and ellipses look like. They also worked hard to practise writing new Chinese characters and reviewed Pinyin.
Students in Year 3 Native Group were learning two Chinese ancient poems about a tall pagoda and the grassland. While reading the poems, students imagined the scenery described in the poems. They also enjoyed the songs based on the poems.
Year 5 Native Group students have been learning a text ‘the Beautiful Xiaoxing’an Mountains’. They focused on how to describe a place in chronological order. They also tried to write sentences with the key target phrases in the text.

Here, at BSB Sanlitun, we were pleased to host two weeks of visits of two Juilliard specialists from New York, across 3 full working days. Our Primary students got to experience a variety of lessons and teaching styles as Nick Mahmat and Brian Drye stepped into our classrooms and led music and drama activities.
What a wonderful day we had hosting our annual Chinese New Year Temple Fair on campus on Sunday. This great community event included games, a Lion Dance, Dragon Dance, a face changing performance, traditional crafts, a bouncy castle, food vendors and gift stalls.Thanks to everyone who made the event possible and magical!
