We have been exploring teeth and how to keep them clean and white. In Starfish class Ms Echo provided role play props with white coats, oversized teeth and toothbrushes for the children to act out a visit to the dentist. It was wonderful to see the children carefully brushing the teeth to keep them clean.
There was the opportunity to sort healthy and unhealthy foods under the image of a very happy and very sad tooth. We were very impressed with how the children recognised which foods were good for healthy teeth.
In Tadpoles classroom, flour was added to the sensory table, reflecting the white enamel of healthy teeth. The children explored the feeling of the soft flour and practised using cups and scoops to fill containers to the brim.
In Seahorse class the children had the opportunity to paint black unhealthy teeth white, using toothbrushes to clean them up and make them sparkly and bright.
We also provided lolly sticks and various media to represent toothbrushes. The children used them to make their own version of tooth-brushes among other things.
As we approach the end of the Spring Term it has been a pleasure to see how many of our Pre-Nursery and Tadpole children are expressing themselves using words. We are looking forward to hearing more of their wonderful ideas as we move into the Summer Term.
