Year 4 Learning about Digestion
Year 4 have been learning about the digestive system last week but on Friday it was time for children to get stuck unstuck. In order to correctly learn about how food is digested by the human body, children emulated how the body digests food by creating their own organs.
Students learned how food is digested by creating their very own digestive system, including the stomach, large intestine and other various organs involved in processing food. Sandwich bags and tights were used to help children understand how food is separated by the body as well as how enzymes (we used orange juice) breaks down food in the stomach.
Even though, the end of the process was not a particularly pleasing sight. It was lovely to see all the students get involved with the hands-on learning.
Credit to Mr Max Van Dillen for taking the wonderful photos.
