As we near the conclusion of the Chinese New Year holiday. Let’s explore how Pre-Nursery and Tadpoles celebrated this special occasion in Early Years. They engaged in a variety of class activities, songs, art projects, stories, and games to commemorate this festive time.
The children in Pre-Nursery and Tadpoles had a chance to wear traditional Chinese clothing while playing. They assisted each other in dressing up, played instruments, and sang Chinese songs together.
The teachers of Pre-Nursery and Tadpoles arranged their tables with rice, sand, and macaroni to introduce the colours red and yellow, symbolising Chinese New Year. The children had the opportunity to explore and create various shapes such as dragons and lanterns, using tools to represent chopsticks.
With a team effort, all the children from Pre-Nursery and Tadpoles worked together to create a dragon for the Temple fair. We displayed our creation in the foyer, using a variety of materials including red and yellow mesh paper, paint. play dough, and crayons.
In the last week before the holiday, the children from Pre-Nursery and Tadpoles had the opportunity to build and paint their own version of the Great Wall of China. They brought boxes from home and had a fun-filled week working on this project.
From all of us in the Pre-Nursery and Tadpoles classes, once again, 'Happy Chinese New Year!'
