In Year 2, we learn many Computing skills such as typing, coding and online safety. Our unit at the moment is Computer Art and it’s been a great opportunity for the children to show the ‘Creative’ Learner Ambition.
Each lesson, we look at a particular artist or style of art and then the children use the iPad or laptop to practise the skill. At the beginning of Year 2, we looked at many of the same artists and the children learnt lots of skills such as how to mix colours, create shades, tints and what colours are warm or cold. These skills were useful in our most recent lesson where we explored the work of Claude Monet, a French artist, who likes to show the same picture in both warm and cold colours to evoke different emotions.
The children were then challenged to colour the same picture two times but in contrasting ways. They thought carefully about the warm and cold colours that they know and selected different shades of these colours to distinguish each part of their picture. It’s been great to see the children applying their skills during these lessons and we can’t wait to see more masterpieces this term!
Have you ever tried to create art on your computer or iPad? If you haven’t, Year 2 highly recommend it!

Before the holiday break, we had the privilege of hosting a memorable awards ceremony to celebrate the outstanding achievements of our students in sporty After-School Activities (ASAs). This special event allowed us to recognise the dedication, effort, and talent demonstrated by our students throughout the term.
Today, our students had the wonderful opportunity to take part in two live broadcasts with CNN and on the important topic of Climate Change.
