The Year 2s had their first lesson in the Art Room recently and enjoyed getting messy while learning to mix different colours of paint!
Our fun was inspired by an artist name Mark Rothko. We used our knowledge of our previous Art lesson and gathered some red, blue and yellow paint. The children had some interesting guesses as to what would happen if we mixed these colours together! Instead of guessing, we opted to experiment with our primary colours and mixed them together to see what new colours we could create. Once we created our new, secondary colours (orange, purple and green), we continued our testing by adding more paint to see how we could make our colours lighter and darker.
Some children got VERY messy and absolutely loved it! They mixed new shades of paint that they had never seen before! Finally, after enjoying our colour mixing journey, we created a Rothko inspired painting showcasing our secondary colours. We can’t wait to go back to the Art Room to have some messy fun!
