Rethinking How We Talk to Children

This term in Reception we are focusing on “Growing and Changing.” The children have been busy little explorers, discovering how plants grow from tiny seeds into plants, and learning about life cycles through first-hand experiences.

We are delighted to announce that our school will soon be building a swimming pool, an exciting development that reflects our commitment to children’s wellbeing, learning, and safety. Introducing swimming from a young age provides powerful benefits across physical, cognitive, social and emotional development, supporting children during some of the most important years of growth.

In our maths lessons in Upper Primary, you might hear your child talk about using counters, base-ten blocks, fraction tiles, number lines, bar models or other physical resources — often called manipulatives. These are not just used for KS1 lessons as they are an important part of helping pupils build deep understanding, which is encouraged by maths experts and curriculum guidance in England.
