It is Book Week in Reception! The children have had wonderful activities with different tales and stories.
Primary children from Year 5 and 6 came to read to the lovely Reception children. They were amazed to see the primary children’s uniforms and loved their story time together. It was wonderful to see how the older children read and talked about their love for books
The children loved their ‘Snuggle and Read’ time this week, cozying up on rugs, with pillows and bean bags, sharing the stories they brought from home or a favourite story they love to read in the classroom, with one another. They are engaging in a lot of phonics-based activities this week, learning fun new games to practise red words, and playing group games to blend green words. They are engaging in a lot of reading experiences, and it is really amazing to see their love of reading grow and how they continue to progress every day.
Friday was our Dress Up day where we all dressed up as our favourite characters from different tales. The children loved chatting and discussing each other’s costumes and why they liked their characters. They shared the wonderful tales of their characters, the journeys, lessons, and experiences they have read.
