In Nursery, the children explored different animals through the story: The Gruffalo. We also tried to retell the story and answer questions accordingly. The children were able to talk about the different ways to solve problems from the story.
Reception enjoyed a wonderful time learning about light and shadows. The children used flashlights and their hands to cast shadows against the whiteboard while practising the target vocabulary in Chinese: words like ‘light’ and ‘shadow’. We gazed out of the window and the children pointed to the sun and they identified that as ‘light’ in Chinese. The children also learned the words ‘bright’ and ‘dark’. Such a fun day!
In Year 2 (native group) the children learned animal nursery rhymes. This is a children's song full of fun introducing the living habits of six small animals. They also learned how the write the Chinese character ‘worm’ in the right order.
Year 5 (native group) used their Fluent Thinking skills to come up with lots of great ideas to help them write their own story. We used a collection of vocabulary, story maps, and visual aids to allow the students to write creatively.
