Recently in the Tadpoles class we have been learning all about the Chinese New Year!
The children all really enjoyed this topic and were excited and interested to learn about all the wonderful things associated with the Chinese New Year celebrations. We learned about fireworks, making dumplings, red packets, lanterns, candy fruit and more!
We made lots of wonderful art and crafts such as, traditional fans, calligraphy, and hand printed dragons. We also read some great books about the new year, full of colour and wonder. Our favourite story was ‘the Great Race’ which was all about the different animals of the Chinese zodiac. We watched a dragon dance and made our very own hand printed dragons to take home for our families.
We learned many new songs also, our favourite one was the ‘Happy New Year’ song. This song was great, as we were able to sing it in both English and Chinese!
What a festive time we have had recently in the Tadpoles class!

Our Primary students got to experience a variety of lessons and teaching styles as Nick Mahmat and Brian Drye stepped into our classrooms and led music and drama activities.
