This week in Reception the children have investigated the world of the Minibeasts, animals that do not have a backbone such as bumble bees, ladybirds, caterpillars, butterflies and many more!
They have created habitats in their classrooms and designed their own minibeasts with a variety of resources such as paint, playdough and more. They have made paper ladybirds with moving wings. Bees in their beehive habitat as well as caterpillars eating a leaf!
The children have investigated and learned that some minibeast have wings and some do not. They have used their magnifying glasses to find out how many legs and antennas they have. Learning that minibeast choose their habitats for food, safety and shelter and that each minibeast is unique and different. Some have many colours, some can change their colours. There are minibeasts with big eyes and small eyes and much more. They have had a lot of fun learning about the many minibeasts in our world and what they can do!
