Everything is awesome, everything is cool when you are part of a team! Everything is better when we stick together, side by side, you and I are going to win forever! – The Lego Movie, Tegan and Sara.
Students have been sharing their work with one another, learning to magpie good ideas to be used in their own work in the future. Each student has different ideas and it is how they use them that makes them great!
Students in Year 2 have been learning about various places around town and the features of each place. To practise this vocabulary, they played a game of ‘Hot Seat’, where they had to describe what they could find at each place. To challenge themselves, they described what they could do there without naming any objects related to each place. Being the teacher put in the hot seat and having a partner to help them if they got in trouble helped even the quietest student give this very fun game a go.
Year 3 students have been practising food vocabulary related to what they would bring on a picnic. They first practised constructing questions and answers they could use to quiz each other about what they would bring in their picnic baskets. To practise how to use this vocabulary and grammar structures in an everyday setting, they made a bowl of soup together, questioning each other about what they could put in the soup and the responses they could give if they agreed or disagreed.
Having that buddy to catch them when they fall has helped everyone grow much faster than they could have themselves. We look forward to seeing how they continue to grow as the year progresses.
