Key Stage 2 footballers from BSB Sanlitun were recently disappointed by the news that a planned tournament with different schools was unable to go ahead. To make up for this, we recently held our own BSB Sanlitun Autumn Football Event on the outdoor pitches at Si De Park.
Students from Years 3 to 6 took part in five-a-side matches in the glorious autumnal sunshine. Whilst these matches were friendlies, there was still plenty of competitive spirit.
Highlights of the day included some wonderful technical finishing from the Year 6 boys, a back-and-forth Year 4 girls’ match which featured some excellent goalkeeping, determined defending from the Year 3 boys and an epic Year 5 girls’ match that fittingly ended in a five-all draw after some spectacular goals and incredible saves. It was wonderful to see the skills learned in PE lessons applied in practice – especially our focus on marking and defensive tactics.
All the students who attended the event were a credit to the school in the way that they conducted themselves, especially in the sportsmanship that they showed towards each other and their politeness towards park staff. I hope that they all enjoyed the competition and are excited for more competitive sport this academic year.
Our next sporting competitions are the house handball tournaments, which will take place in the week beginning 31st October for all Key Stage 2 students. These tournaments will take place in students’ PE lessons. Students will compete for their houses in short matches, with a winning house declared for each year group. We hope that this is something that all the children will look forward to.
